Lynas & JS Link Join Forces to Build Rare Earth Magnet Factory in Malaysia

Lynas Rare Earths Ltd (Lynas) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with JS Link Inc of Seoul, South Korea to develop the rare earth magnet value chain in Malaysia.


JS Link, previously known as DNA Link, has a dedicated division focused on the manufacturing of rare earth permanent magnets.


Through this MoU, Lynas and JS Link will collaborate to build a 3,000-tonne sintered NdFeB (Neodymium-Iron-Boron) permanent magnet production facility near Lynas’ plant in Kuantan.


The two firms will also collaborate in the supply of light and heavy rare earth materials by Lynas to JS Link to support the production of sintered NdFeB permanent magnets.


Lynas CEO Amanda Lacaze announced that Lynas is very pleased to partner with JS Link in the development of magnet production in Malaysia.


He also discussed that they look forward to collaborating with JS Link to leverage their technology and expertise to develop an attractive permanent magnet industry in Malaysia.
