Malaysia & Brunei Strengthen Ties, Focus on Border Issues

The bilateral commitment between Malaysia and Brunei continues to be strengthened to address the issues outlined in the Exchange of Letters (EOL) 2009, especially involving land and maritime borders.


According to a statement from the Malaysian Foreign Ministry, the matter was announced following the 26th Meeting on the Implementation of the Exchange of Letters between Malaysia and Brunei (EOL-26).


The meeting was co-chaired by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Brunei's Second Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Setia Erywan Mohd Yusof.


During the meeting, the two ministers exchanged views on efforts to strengthen economic cooperation that could benefit both countries.


The visit also reflects the closeness of Malaysia-Brunei relations and serves as the basis for preparations for the 26th Annual Leaders' Consultations in Malaysia next month.


The statement was issued after the completion of Erywan's two-day working visit to Malaysia which ended today.
