Iran has stated its firm stance against the United States (US) that it will not hold any new nuclear talks if Washington continues to demand that it halt uranium enrichment activities in the country.
The uncompromising statement was voiced by Advisor to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Velayati, who stressed that Iran’s right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes cannot be challenged.
Previously, negotiations between Tehran and Washington stalled after a surprise attack by Israel on Iran’s nuclear and military facilities on June 13, followed by limited military action by the US in support of its allies.
Although the conflict has subsided and both countries have expressed their willingness to return to the negotiating table, Iran still firmly holds on to its right to continue its nuclear program for peaceful purposes.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei announced that so far no official date has been set for a meeting between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US special envoy Steve Witkoff.
At the same time, Iran also warned that any new form of aggression will be responded to with harsher and more comprehensive action.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in a recent statement, stressed that Tehran remains committed to diplomacy and a peaceful approach, but will not remain silent if its country's sovereignty continues to be threatened.
