Former US President Barack Obama has called for immediate action to be taken to prevent a worsening famine crisis in the Gaza Strip.
In a post on the X platform, he also stressed that aid must be channeled to the people of Gaza and that there is no reason to block food and water supplies, while including links to two articles from The New York Times (NYT).
Israel announced plans to stop attacks in certain areas to allow aid to be channeled through safe corridors following deaths from starvation in Gaza.
The famine in Gaza has now become a humanitarian disaster, with footage showing residents being emaciated and collapsing due to dehydration and ongoing starvation.
For the past 18 years, Israel has imposed a blockade on Gaza and completely closed all crossings since March 2, further worsening the humanitarian crisis in the region.
