Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim this morning announced five main government initiatives to ease the burden of the people and invigorate the spirit of nationhood in conjunction with the celebration of National Day and Malaysia Day this year.
These initiatives were announced as a sign of appreciation to all Malaysians who have always supported the national development agenda. Here is the gist of the announcement:
1.RM100 One Off for Everyone
The Basic Rahmah Contribution (SARA) Programme is now extended to all Malaysians aged 18 and above, allowing them to receive RM100 in one-off via MyKad.
The distribution will start from 31 August to 31 December 2025, involving a total allocation of RM15 billion.
Payments will be automatically credited to eligible recipients, and if not claimed within the period, the assistance will be transferred to vulnerable groups in 2026.
2. Public Holiday in Conjunction with Malaysia Day
To celebrate Malaysia Day 2025, the government has declared 15 September 2025 (Monday) as an additional general holiday.
3. Expansion of Rahmah MADANI Sales
The government has doubled the allocation for the Rahmah MADANI Sales 2025 from RM300 million to RM600 million, to increase the types of daily necessities, increase the frequency of sales, and expand sales locations to all 600 DUN constituencies.
4. No Toll Rate Increase
The government has agreed to postpone the increase in toll rates on 10 major highways that were supposed to occur this year according to the concession agreement.
This decision was taken to ensure that the people are not burdened with additional travel costs in the current challenging economic conditions.
To cover the impact of this postponement, the government will channel more than RM500 million.
5. RON95 Price Maintained at RM1.99 Per LiterThe government announced that the price of RON95 petrol has been reduced to RM1.99 per liter, as a result of the implementation of more efficient fuel subsidy targeting measures.
This measure benefits more than 18 million Malaysians, including motorcyclists, car drivers and gig workers, in an effort to reduce the burden of daily costs and control inflation.
This initiative not only reflects the government's concern for the welfare of the people, but also strengthens the spirit of unity and social justice which are the foundations of nation-building.
