The Sabah State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today approved the Supplementary Supply Bill 2025 amounting to RM1.19 billion, tabled by the state Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, to ensure the smooth running of government administration until the end of the year.
Of this amount, RM600 million will be channeled to various statutory funds including RM250 million to cover the development account deficit and RM150 million for state road maintenance.
Masidi also tabled additional development allocations amounting to RM416.5 million involving 83 items in 10 ministries, with the Sabah Works Ministry receiving the highest allocation of RM254.9 million or 61.2% which includes road projects, water supply, sewage systems and rail repairs.
The issue of clean water supply and continuous road connectivity is also a focus, with RM523.5 million of the entire additional budget to be channeled to resolve them.
He stated that the allocation proved the state government's seriousness in addressing issues frequently raised by the people, even though it was often used as political fodder by certain parties.
However, the presentation did not escape criticism from the opposition. Senallang State Assemblyman (ADUN), Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal questioned the transparency in the distribution of affordable housing assistance, especially the abandoned projects in Sukau and Karambunai.
He also questioned the additional allocation of RM1 billion to the Chief Minister's Department which was described as 'extraordinary' based on his experience in government.
The Sabah State Assembly session is expected to last for two days and is considered the last session of the current administration ahead of the automatic dissolution of the State Assembly on November 11, unless dissolved earlier.
