TUESDAY (12 August 2025)
RBA Policy Meeting (12.30 PM) – Set to continue its monetary easing, the Australian central bank is expected to cut interest rates by 25 basis points to 3.60% at its latest meeting. The Australian dollar is at risk of trading under pressure this week.
US Consumer Inflation Data (8.30 PM) – After surging above expectations in the previous month, the latest reading for the US consumer price index (CPI) for July is expected to continue rising to 2.8%. The increase in inflation could provide an important signal for the direction of the Federal Reserve's monetary policy.
WEDNESDAY (13 August 2025)
Australian Wage Price Index (9.30 AM) – This data reading showing changes in the wage rate paid by the government to workers in Australia will influence expectations for the inflation rate. The forecast for the second quarter figure has been slightly lowered to 0.8% compared to the previous 0.9%.
THURSDAY (14 August 2025)
Australian Employment Data (9.30 AM) – The Australian employment report for July is projected to be positive with better job growth compared to the previous month's slow figure. The unemployment rate is also expected to fall from 4.3% to 4.2%.
US Producer Inflation Data (8.30 PM) – In addition to consumer inflation, changes in the price of goods at the producer level in the US will also be observed. The figure is not expected to show a significant difference to the July reading.
FRIDAY (15 August 2025)
US Retail Sales Data (8.30 PM) – After recording good growth previously, the retail sales rate in the US in July is expected to slow down slightly. A lower reading could put pressure on the US dollar in the week-end trading session.
US Consumer Confidence Data (10:00 PM) – The University of Michigan’s US consumer confidence survey will be watched in the final session of the week. The reading for this survey is important in providing a snapshot of the current financial and consumer spending levels in America.
