CelcomDigi Bhd, Malaysia's largest telecommunications company, announced that its Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Idham Nawawi, will resign on August 31.
According to the company, Idham is stepping down for personal reasons after three years at the helm of CelcomDigi, including the initial integration phases following the historic merger of Celcom and Digi on November 30, 2022.
CelcomDigi Chairman of the Board, Tengku Datuk Azmil Zahruddin Raja Abdul Aziz, expressed his gratitude to Idham for his contributions in building the foundation for the company's future growth.
The board has appointed Deputy CEO, Albern Murty as acting CEO effective September 1, 2025 to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
Albern is a veteran with 22 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, including 7 years as CEO of Digi.Com Bhd.
However, Idham will continue to serve as an Advisor to the Board until November 30 to support Albern and the management team throughout the transition period.
He joined Celcom Axiata on 1 September 2018 and is responsible for driving the company's transformation and planning the merger of Celcom and Digi to form the country's leading telecommunications company.
The company's board of directors will begin a formal search process for the position of new CEO by evaluating internal and external candidates to lead the company into its next phase of growth.
