Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently made an announcement hinting that the government would reconsider providing RM100 assistance on a one-off basis to students to ease the burden of living costs.

He said the proposal would be examined in the preparation of the 2026 Budget after a Multimedia University (MMU) student made a request during a dialogue session at the university on Monday.

Anwar explained that the request could be considered but it needed to be balanced with the needs of other citizens.

Anwar stressed that the government was facing various demands including flood mitigation projects in Kelantan, efforts to bring high-impact industries to Johor and tackling poverty in Kedah.

In the same session, he also reminded that the government's steps to improve governance and strengthen anti-corruption efforts could open up more financial space for the people.
