Iran on Wednesday issued a stern warning involving the use of new-generation missiles if Israel again intends to launch an attack on its country, after a bloody 12-day conflict that claimed hundreds of lives in June.

Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nassirzadeh said the missiles used previously were produced several years ago, but now Iran has more sophisticated and powerful weapons, thus it will not hesitate to deploy them if the country's sovereignty is threatened again.

Israel previously launched a series of bombings against Iran that also killed several senior military commanders, nuclear scientists and civilians, recording a death toll of up to 1,000 people.

The conflict also saw the United States intervene by attacking Iranian nuclear facilities, before a ceasefire was signed on June 24.

Despite the cessation of fighting, Iranian leaders stressed that the situation remains tense and it is not impossible for war to break out again at any time. The Iranian military is also scheduled to begin two days of military exercises tomorrow, including testing short- and medium-range missiles.
