Irish Foreign Minister Simon Harris has expressed concern over the humanitarian crisis and genocide in Gaza and urged the European Union (EU)-Israel Partnership Agreement to be suspended.
Harris also called for immediate action to achieve a ceasefire, increase humanitarian aid and release prisoners in Gaza, but insisted that Israel is doing the opposite.
Harris said that if Israel continues with its plan to occupy Gaza, it will only bring more bloodshed, loss of life, starvation and close the opportunity for peace.
He also said that the European Commission should put forward proactive measures to increase pressure on Israel to change its stance.
The statement was made following a video conference of EU foreign ministers ahead of the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska this Friday.
Ireland insisted that the agreement should be suspended until the violence is stopped with immediate action, not just condemnation.
To date, Israel has faced global condemnation over the issue of the war in Gaza which has claimed almost 61,500 lives since October 2023.
