Israel launched a large-scale airstrike on the Bekaa Valley, Baalbek and Ghaziyeh in Lebanon, violating a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah.
Lebanon's National News reported at least seven airstrikes targeting towns in the Bekaa Valley and the Baalbek mountains in the northeast, far from Israel's southern border.
The attacks also included the areas of Nasiriyah, Brital, Jarmak, Mahmoudiya and Khardali, as well as a warehouse in Ghaziyeh that was set on fire by a bomb.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant confirmed that the strikes targeted a missile manufacturing site belonging to Hezbollah, which is alleged to be rebuilding its military strength.
The Israeli military said it struck infrastructure used to produce and store strategic weapons in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley in the east of the country.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun also called on Hezbollah to hand over its weapons to its forces and demanded that Israel withdraw from Lebanese territory and stop airstrikes and killings.
Local officials said the attack had claimed more than 60 lives and wounded more than 120 people, making it the bloodiest day in Baalbek in more than a year.
