A pair of sparkly old socks worn by the late pop legend Michael Jackson while performing in France in 1997 sold for more than $8,000 (RM41,000) yesterday.
The pair of socks were auctioned at an auction house in Nimes, southern France.
The iconic item was found by a technician near the dressing room after a concert in Nimes in July 1997.
Auctioneer Aurore Illy said the socks were seen as something very special and a symbol of worship among Michael Jackson's loyal fans.
According to media reports, the socks were also seen in a recording of his iconic song, Billie Jean.
However, after more than two decades, the white socks now look worn with dirt, while the gemstones have turned yellowish.
The following socks were initially estimated to be worth between $3,400 and $4,500 (RM15,980 to RM21,150), but were eventually sold for $8,822 (RM37,400) at a Nimes auction house.
