BRICS central banks are reportedly developing the XRP Ledger (XRPL), with a new official document revealing that the technology has been included in their financial infrastructure plans.

Research shared by Versan Aljarrah of Black Swan Capitalist shows that XRPL is being used as part of the BRICS’ long-term strategy to challenge the dominance of the dollar in international trade.

BRICS economic forum archives and New Development Bank reports show that Ripple’s escrow and automation features are being tested in trade finance and cross-border settlements.

This evidence suggests that the use of XRPL is being developed systematically through research and pilot projects, not just short-term trials. The strategy is in line with BRICS’ efforts to accelerate the creation of alternatives to dollar-based clearing systems.

Meanwhile, Brazil’s central bank has also confirmed a proof-of-concept project based on XRPL.

In fact, the country’s private sector has already begun using tokenization and agribusiness financing via XRPL, giving regulators first-hand experience of the technology’s scalability and effectiveness.

This combination of government support and private adoption reinforces BRICS’ confidence in XRP.

Additionally, additional documents show that the Russian Central Bank has been working with Ripple since 2018 to build an XRP-based cross-border settlement system as a fiat transfer bridge.

There are claims that the mBridge project also leverages XRPL as its technological foundation.

While there has been no official announcement of a full migration of national payment systems, evidence of long-term integration suggests that BRICS is prepared to use XRPL on a larger scale.

If implemented, XRPL’s settlement speed and programmable functionality could accelerate the global dedollarization agenda. This move demonstrates the BRICS’ strategic commitment to alternative finance that has the potential to transform the international monetary landscape.
