Britain to Recognize Palestine This Weekend

Britain is expected to officially recognize the state of Palestine this weekend, after US President Donald Trump concludes his visit to the country.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer warned in July that Britain would act if Israel failed to ease the suffering in Gaza and reach a ceasefire with Hamas.

Starmer insisted that Britain would recognize Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly next week, unless Israel took concrete steps to ease the situation in Gaza.

He is also facing pressure from some members of the Labour Party to take a tougher stance on Israel.

The Israeli government has said that the recognition of Palestine, which was also carried out by France, Australia and Canada this month, would only 'reward' Hamas.

According to a report by The Times newspaper, Britain will make an official announcement after Trump's visit ends today.

Britain has long supported a "two-state solution" to end the conflict in the region, but has previously insisted that it can only be implemented at the right time.
