Malaysian companies recorded sales exceeding RM125 million, including RM13.6 million from deals concluded during the Export Acceleration Mission (EAM) to South Africa and Kenya from 1 to 5 September 2025.

MATRADE announced that a total of 13 Malaysian companies from various sectors participated in the mission by holding 240 business matching sessions involving 128 buyers from South Africa and Kenya.

According to MATRADE, the 13 companies involved represent key sectors with high export potential such as medical devices and equipment, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and beauty products, and halal food and beverages.

MATRADE Chairman, Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said the initiative was in line with the government’s strategy to diversify export markets and recognise the African economy as a rapidly developing market.

He stressed that Africa offers great potential and the mission is an important step in strengthening trade relations and Malaysia’s economic presence in the region.

MATRADE together with SME Bank is committed to providing this platform to assist Malaysian companies, especially micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), to explore new opportunities and expand their global footprint.

For the period January to July 2025, Malaysia's total trade with South Africa was worth RM3.24 billion, comprising exports of RM1.87 billion and imports of RM1.37 billion.
