Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has appointed Mohamad Yasin Abdullah as Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) Islamic Banking and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maybank Islamic Bhd, effective 1 October 2025.
According to a statement from Maybank yesterday, Mohamad Yasin will lead the Islamic banking franchise and drive Maybank's vision to become a global leader in Islamic finance.
He will oversee all aspects of Maybank's Islamic finance business including strategy, product development, innovation and ensuring risk management and sharia compliance are at the highest level.
Mohamad Yasin, 52, is currently Maybank's Group Chief Audit Executive (GCAE) and is leading the Maybank Group Audit Strategic Plan 2023-2025 (GRASP25) to enhance the audit function through global best practices and strengthen assurance across the group.
In addition, Maybank has appointed Malique Firdauz Ahmad Sidique as the new GCAE, effective 1 October 2025, succeeding Mohamad Yasin.
Malique, 47, will report to the Board Audit Committee and administratively to the President and GCEO of Maybank, while driving the ongoing transformation of group audit based on GRASP25.
He will also provide advice to all sectors and make group audit a key supporter of future aspirations through internal control, risk governance and organisational resilience.
Maybank President Datuk Seri Khairussaleh Ramli said the appointment reflects the success of Maybank’s internal succession planning and talent management.
