The General Operations Force (GOF) successfully thwarted an attempt to divert 85,580 kilograms of crude palm oil worth RM1.1 million in the Op Taring Palma operation in the Kerian district.
The Ulu Kinta PFA Northern Brigade Commander, SAC Shahrum Hashim, announced that four local men aged 26 to 44 were arrested in an operation carried out jointly with the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) Northern Region, the Kerian District Police Headquarters (IPD) and the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) last Tuesday.
According to Shahrum, the operation team detected a lorry with a suspicious load at the Bukit Merah Rest and Treatment Stop (R&R) heading north, before discovering that the crude palm oil had been illegally transferred from two tanker lorries to a bonded lorry.
Further inspection found that there were 15 blue drums with a capacity of 200 litres each in the bonded lorry, along with several equipment used to transfer the crude palm oil.
In addition, the Bukit Aman JSPT also issued a summons against the suspect for traffic offences under the Road Transport Act 1987.
All suspects and the seized items were handed over to the Northern Region MPOB for further investigation in accordance with Regulation 5, Malaysian Palm Oil Board (Licensing) Regulations 2005.
