Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was named the recipient of the Global Islamic Finance Leadership Award 2025.
The prestigious award was presented by the Chairman of the Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA) 2025, Prof Humayon Dar, in a grand ceremony today.
Anwar described the award as not only for himself, but also for all the heroes behind the scenes who sacrificed for the advancement of the Islamic financial system.
He was also grateful to be able to come together to celebrate the movers, founders and friends who developed the country's financial institutions and created a strong Islamic banking and finance framework.
The Prime Minister reminded that there are great challenges to continue strengthening Islamic finance to be in line with the Maqasid Shariah which emphasises justice, balance and equal opportunities.
Islamic finance is not just a side option, but as a hopeful system with complete, comprehensive and sustainable instruments.
The statement was made after he received the prestigious award.
The ceremony was also attended by the Prime Minister's wife, Dato Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar.
