Israel received international condemnation and faced massive protests yesterday after its military intercepted almost all of the approximately 40 Global South Flotilla (GSF) ships and detained more than 450 activists.
Live footage from the ship showed armed Israeli soldiers boarding the ship, while passengers were seen sitting in a gathering wearing life jackets and raising their hands.
Pro-Palestinian protesters filled the streets in major European cities as well as in Karachi, Buenos Aires and Mexico City to protest Israel's detention of the activists.
The GSF, which organized the mission, announced that more than 450 volunteers had been detained, while some of them were transferred to a large cargo ship before being taken ashore.
However, a ship called the Marinette was reportedly still sailing, according to the organizers in a live broadcast that showed the crew steering the boat.
The ship was about 80 nautical miles from Gaza last night and only 10 nautical miles from the location of the flotilla interception by Israel.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry stated that all the flotilla detainees had been brought to the Port of Ashdod and were safe and sound.
Israeli authorities explained that only one provocation ship remained at a certain distance, and if it approached, any attempt to enter the active fighting zone and break the blockade would also be blocked.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced that the flotilla members would be expelled on Monday and Tuesday, before being sent back to the European capital on a chartered flight.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned Israel's aggressive actions and described them as proof that the Israeli government did not intend to allow the hope of peace to be achieved.
