Stellantis, the global automotive giant born from the merger of Fiat Chrysler and PSA Group, announced a $13 billion investment over four years to expand its manufacturing operations in the United States (US).

With a compelling global portfolio that includes leading brands such as Jeep, Dodge, Peugeot, Alfa Romeo, Maserati and more, this investment is considered the largest in Stellantis’ 100-year history of operations in the US.

The investment, which will see the introduction of five new models, is expected to create more than 5,000 jobs at plants in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and Indiana.

One of the key projects is the reopening of the Belvidere, Illinois plant, which has been closed since 2023, to produce two Jeep models starting in 2027, with an estimated 3,300 new jobs.

In addition, Stellantis will produce mid-size trucks at its Toledo, Ohio plant, and introduce large SUVs and a new Dodge Durango model.

According to Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa, the investment aims to strengthen the company's domestic presence and protect operations from the impact of tariffs on imports, which are estimated to cost $1.7 billion this year.

He added that tariffs will be one of the variables in the business model and they must be prepared to manage it.
