A total of 98% of the recipients of the Basic Rahmah Contribution (SARA) have used MyKad to purchase basic necessities with a total expenditure of RM3.66 billion.
Minister of Finance II, Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan announced that all SARA recipients in Perlis, Sabah, Terengganu, Kelantan and Kedah have made purchases of basic necessities through the initiative.
Amir Hamzah also stated that for the RM100 SARA award, more than 18.3 million people or 83% have spent with a total amount reaching RM1.63 billion.
The statement was delivered when he attended the winding up of the debate on the Supply Bill 2026 at the Policy Level in the Dewan Rakyat, yesterday.
Meanwhile, the government remains committed to ensuring that the benefits of SARA are not only enjoyed by aid recipients, but also provide support to small traders, private retail shops and cooperative shops.
As of 3 November 2025, the government has successfully involved more than 8,700 SARA business partners, including around 2,500 small retail shops nationwide, which is a significant increase compared to 700 SARA business partners, including 180 small retail shops last year.
This network includes supermarkets, mini markets, cooperative stores and small retail shops in urban, rural and remote areas to ensure that more recipients have easy and widespread access to the assistance.
