RHB Bank, AmBank and Maybank have come forward to offer various forms of financial assistance to help thousands of customers affected by the floods in the Peninsular Malaysia and several other states.

These measures include deferring installments for up to six months, waiving banking charges, and facilitating the insurance claim process.

The initiative aims to ensure that individuals, as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are free from additional financial stress.

RHB Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Datuk Mohd Rashid Mohamad stressed that the bank is focusing on helping families and businesses recover, including through the distribution of food packs and post-flood kits to victims.

He also stressed that RHB is offering a deferral of payments for up to six months for housing, Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB), personal and hire purchase financing.

In addition, late payment charges are waived and automatic teller machine (ATM) card replacements, debit cards and credit cards are also included.

Meanwhile, AmBank is offering a moratorium of up to six months for monthly financing, including a waiver of charges for replacement of passbooks, cheques, as well as ATM, debit and credit cards.

The bank urged SME customers to contact their respective relationship managers for further assistance, while AmOnline digital services are recommended for daily transactions.

Maybank, on the other hand, is offering payment deferral options, reduced instalments or extended financing periods.

In a statement, Maybank said that replacement charges for ATM cards, debit cards and cheque books damaged by floods are also waived.

Etiqa insurance and takaful policyholders can claim quickly without forms, simply by sending pictures or videos of the damage via WhatsApp or visiting the Maybank Flood Assistance page at maybank2u.com.my.

All customers can apply for the assistance through their branches, service centres, email or relationship managers.

Each institution also provides a dedicated flood assistance page for more information.
