The Selangor government will distribute initial assistance of RM500 to each family of 750 flood victims who are housed in temporary relief centres (PPS).
Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari announced that the assistance was decided in the State Government Council (MMKN) today.
He also explained that the MMKN held a special meeting following the floods that hit the districts of Kuala Selangor, Hulu Langat, Sabak Bernam, Klang and Petaling Jaya.
As of 11:30 this morning, a total of 2,784 victims have been placed in 21 PPS in the five districts.
Of the total, 221 victims are students sitting for the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) examination which begins today.
Meanwhile, the district office will provide free transportation from PPS to schools to facilitate travel to and from their respective examination centres.
Amirudin also stressed that the MBI Foundation will provide immediate assistance to students who lost writing and digital equipment due to the floods so that the examination process can run smoothly.
He thanked the task force throughout the state who worked hard to provide assistance, and prayed for the safety of the people of Selangor, especially those in PPS.
