Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz will end his post as Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) effective December 2, 2025.
Tengku Zafrul stated that his last day at MITI will be on December 2 because he is no longer a member of the Senate.
The statement was made while attending the MITI Third Quarter 2025 Performance Report Card Media Briefing, today.
When asked whether he would continue to remain in the government as a senior advisor, Tengku Zafrul explained that the matter would depend on the decision of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
However, he would continue to assist in the transition process with the MITI Minister who will be appointed.
Regarding his successor, Tengku Zafrul refused to comment further and jokingly responded to the same question from the journalists present.
He will begin his second term as a member of the Senate in December 2022, which is the maximum term allowed.
Before joining the Cabinet, Tengku Zafrul served for over 22 years in the banking and financial services industry, including as Group Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of CIMB Group Holdings Bhd, as well as President Commissioner of PT Bank CIMB Niaga in Indonesia.
