Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has previously stated that he wants to be involved in every project Tesla CEO Elon Musk does.
In an interview with CNBC earlier this year, Huang admitted that almost everything Elon is involved in is something he wants to be involved in, while expressing his excitement about investing in Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI.
He also admitted that one of his regrets is not investing more heavily in the rival company OpenAI.
A clip from the interview went viral again when Huang said he was very excited about the xAI funding opportunity and revealed that Nvidia has become one of the company’s investors.
According to him, the opportunity to participate in Musk’s project was something he didn’t want to miss.
In addition to support through investment, the professional relationship between the two tech figures was also shown in a story Huang told on a podcast with Joe Rogan.
Huang recounted how in 2016, Elon Musk was the only early buyer of the DGX-1 AI supercomputer, when no one else was interested.
Huang also explained that he personally delivered the machine to Musk in a small room that turned out to be the office of OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT.
At the time, he thought he had the first customer for the product. However, he was surprised when Musk revealed that it was a non-profit organization.
Nevertheless, the incident demonstrated the close relationship between the two tech figures, and solidified Musk’s reputation as one of the earliest individuals to see the deep potential of artificial intelligence technology.
