The government announced that toll rates on 10 major highways nationwide will be maintained throughout next year as a measure to protect the welfare of the people from the rising cost of living in cities.

Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, stated that the highways involved include the Cheras-Kajang Expressway (GRANDSAGA), KL-Kuala Selangor Expressway (LATAR), New North Klang Strait Bypass (NNKSB), Senai-Desaru Expressway (SDE) and East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2).

In addition, the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE), Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge, Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE), Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya Expressway (MEX) and Butterworth Outer Ring Road (LLB) will also remain at their existing toll rates.

This decision is in line with the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on July 23 in the Appreciation for Malaysians program, where the government agreed that the people would continue to enjoy toll rates without any increase.

Alexander stressed that although the government had to bear financial compensation of RM591.56 million for 2026, this move showed the government's commitment to easing the burden of the cost of living, especially for highway users.

"This allocation reflects the MADANI Government's commitment to guaranteeing the well-being and welfare of the people and ensuring inclusive and sustainable economic growth," he said.

He also added that the Ministry of Works will continue to work with all stakeholders to ensure that the management of the country's highways remains efficient, sustainable and in line with the government's aspirations of putting the people first.
