OpenAI is in talks with Amazon for a $10 billion investment in artificial intelligence (AI) chips.

A deal between the two organizations is still under wraps as the talks are considered confidential.

The talks come after OpenAI’s restructuring in October, allowing for broader collaboration with Microsoft and other companies in AI.

Meanwhile, Microsoft has invested more than $13 billion in OpenAI since 2019, but now loses its right of first refusal as a computer provider.

Amazon has previously invested at least $8 billion in OpenAI competitor Anthropic, but is now looking to expand its involvement in the fast-growing generative AI market.

OpenAI has also struck $1.4 trillion in partnerships with Nvidia, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Broadcom, and bought $38 billion in capacity from AWS.

In October, the company completed a $6.6 billion secondary share sale that allowed employees to sell shares at a $500 billion valuation.
