US President Donald Trump announced that the second phase of the plan for Gaza is expected to be implemented in the near future.
When reporters asked when the second phase would begin, Trump dodged the question and only said that things were ‘going well.’
He also said that the Palestinians were facing problems today when bombs were detonated, resulting in injuries and deaths to several individuals.
Trump’s statement was referring to the Israeli attack in southern Gaza that killed at least five Palestinians, thus violating the ceasefire with Hamas.
The attack came shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to ‘act appropriately’ following the injuries of several Israeli soldiers in clashes with Palestinian fighters in Rafah.
In addition, the first phase of the ceasefire agreement includes the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners.
The plan also proposes the reconstruction of Gaza and the establishment of a new administrative mechanism that replaces the role of Hamas.
Many residents in Gaza are now living in uncertainty, fearing the loss of their homes and loved ones with every passing moment bringing danger.
The hope of this second phase is a small ray of hope for those who hope for peace and survival again.
Since October 2023, the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip has resulted in more than 70,000 deaths, the majority of them women and children, and injured nearly 171,000 others.
