The FBM KLCI started the stock market this morning on a positive note, as the main index recorded a small increase in line with the regional market movement which also strengthened.
At 9.17am, the local stock market recorded a small increase of 0.04 points to 1,686.58 compared to Friday's close of 1,686.54. The benchmark index also opened higher at 1,687.07.
As of this morning, a total of 81.59 million units of shares had been traded with a total value of RM34.46 million.
In the broader market, more shares recorded gains than losses, with 168 counters increasing, 65 counters decreasing, while 296 counters remained unchanged. A total of 2,121 counters were untraded.
Positive performance was also seen in the regional markets. Singapore's STI index rose 5.59 points or 0.12 percent to 4,744.66, while South Korea's KOSPI index jumped 31.28 points or 0.68 percent to 4,617.60.
Meanwhile, Japan's Nikkei index recorded a significant increase of 822.63 points or 1.61 percent to 51,939.89.
