Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has issued a stern warning to the country's enforcement forces to resign from their posts if they fail to carry out their duties with integrity.
Anwar also stressed that issues of external pressure, temptation and personal interests cannot be used as an excuse to compromise in implementing the law.
The warning was delivered as a reminder that the position held in the enforcement institution is not a personal right, but rather a great responsibility to the country and the people.
According to Anwar, the best option is to give way to individuals who are willing and brave to shoulder the trust if there is any doubt in making any firm decision.
He also warned that the phenomena of smuggling, corruption and illegal activities should not be normalized if there is involvement or protection from the authorities who are supposed to enforce legal action.
The condemned act is described as a great betrayal of the country and the people, and cannot be dealt with with tolerance.
At the same time, the government wants to see real changes in the work culture of enforcement, not just symbolic or rhetorical statements.
Therefore, each agency needs to demonstrate a rational attitude by carrying out its duties based on action, discipline and transparency in carrying out its mandate.
