US President Donald Trump said a “large fleet” of US naval vessels was heading to Iran, stressing that he hoped the military force would not have to be used. The statement was made in a radio interview recorded earlier this week, amid ongoing geopolitical tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Trump described the fleet as “very powerful” and larger than the military assets used by the US in previous operations in Venezuela. He did not, however, provide any details on the mission or duration of the fleet’s movement.

The statement was seen as a warning signal to Iran, at a time when global markets are increasingly sensitive to the risk of escalating conflict in the Middle East, particularly as it could affect regional energy security and stability.

In the same interview, Trump also touched on other issues and developments in domestic security in the United States. He said he had had “good and respectful conversations” with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

Trump also briefly commented on New York City, which he said was heading in the wrong direction, and said that the situation with Greenland was "going very well," without providing further details.
