US Attack on Greenland Will Destroy NATO – Danish PM

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has warned that any US attempt to take over Greenland would result in the end of the NATO military alliance.

The warning came after President Donald Trump reiterated his desire for the strategic island to be placed under Washington's administration.

Trump told the media on Sunday that he would discuss the Greenland issue within 20 days, and that the territory should be under US jurisdiction.

The issue has become increasingly acute as Trump did not rule out the possibility of using military force to achieve this goal.

Its strategic geographical location between Europe and North America makes it a prime location for the US to develop a ballistic missile defense system.

In addition to security factors, its mineral wealth is also a major attraction for the US in its effort to reduce its complete dependence on Chinese exports.

Denmark and Greenland, which are semi-autonomous territories under the Danish government, are now facing great pressure from the US.

This tension not only challenges territorial sovereignty, but also undermines NATO solidarity, which has long been the core of Western security.

Washington's actions aimed at strengthening influence in the Arctic actually risk weakening the military alliance.

If the US continues to ignore the sensitivities of its allies, NATO risks not only losing Greenland but also the trust of other member states.
