The administration of US President (US), Donald Trump will suspend visa applications for visitors from 75 countries effective January 21.
According to a Fox News report citing a US State Department memo, the countries involved in the suspension include Iran, Russia, Somalia, Brazil, Afghanistan, Nigeria and Thailand.
The memo also instructed all US embassies to reject any visa applications under existing law while the department re-evaluates its procedures.
Meanwhile, the implementation of the measure was made as Trump took a tough crackdown on immigration since taking office in January last year.
However, the duration of the suspension was not officially stated.
At the same time, Trump vowed to permanently stop immigration from all countries following a shooting incident near the White House by an Afghan citizen that resulted in the death of a National Guard member.
To date, no official information has been released by the US State Department regarding the report.
