Warren Buffett will step down as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway starting today.

Earlier last year, Buffett surprised many when he announced his intention to retire as CEO of Berkshire at the end of 2025.

At the age of 95, he realized that he would no longer be able to lead the giant company forever.

During his tenure, Buffett has provided extraordinary rewards to Berkshire's loyal shareholders with excellent returns based on a value-focused investment portfolio.

Starting January 1, 2026, Buffett will hand over the CEO position of the company to Berkshire Hathaway's Vice Chairman of Non-Insurance Operations, Greg Abel.

Abel has extensive experience in running various Berkshire businesses, including Fruit of the Loom, See's Candies and Oriental Trading.

There is no denying that Abel will shoulder a great deal of responsibility and that Berkshire has the potential to change under his leadership.

However, he is believed not to deviate too far from the value investment strategy founded by Buffett, despite having a different leadership style.
