China stated that it has fulfilled its obligations under the Section 301 agreement with the United States signed in 2020, while rejecting any allegations that it has failed to comply with the trade commitments.
The statement was made after the US Trade Representative hinted that a new investigation under Section 301 would continue, which could potentially lead to the imposition of additional tariffs on several countries including China.
Beijing stressed that the previous agreement had been implemented and hoped that Washington would not "shift responsibility" or create new tensions in bilateral trade relations.
At the same time, the US stated that the investigation would continue if there was evidence of unfair trade practices, thus maintaining pressure on major trading partners.
China expressed its willingness to continue cooperating through the economic and trade consultation mechanism between the two countries to avoid escalating conflicts.
However, Beijing warned that it would defend its rights and interests if the US insisted on continuing the investigation and imposing additional sanctions.
