Elon Musk has once again issued an emergency statement, but this time he wants SpaceX to build cities on the Moon and Mars within the next few decades.

According to Musk, they are targeting a city on the Moon to be completed in less than 10 years, while development on Mars is expected to take more than 20 years.

He also stated that the initial phase of building a city on Mars will begin in five to seven years.
The main factors that are obstacles are distance and travel time. Flights to Mars can only be done when the planets are aligned, which happens every 26 months.
Each mission takes six months to travel. While rockets to the Moon can be launched every 10 days and only take two days to arrive.
This means that the construction process on the Moon can proceed much faster.
However, Musk's promise is fraught with major technical and financial challenges. The expected timeline is seen as overly optimistic considering the risks, as well as the high costs involved.
A project of this magnitude requires extraordinary investment and technological support that is not necessarily fully stable.
What is more interesting, Musk is still betting on the future of humanity on other planets even though concrete evidence of the livability and economic viability there is still vague.
