Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed that India stands with Israel following the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.

In his speech in the Knesset, Modi expressed his condolences to the victims and families affected by the attack. He stressed that India shares Israel’s grief and expressed its continued support for the country.

Modi also held meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on a two-day visit aimed at strengthening trade and defense ties between the two countries.

While not directly mentioning the Palestinian death toll in Gaza during the long-running conflict between Israel and Hamas, Modi said India supports all efforts towards lasting peace and regional stability.

He also stressed that India’s economic growth and Israel’s leadership in technological innovation form a strong foundation for future cooperation, particularly in the areas of quantum technology, semiconductors and artificial intelligence.

Netanyahu, in turn, said that India understands Israel’s role in maintaining regional security and described the visit as an important step in strengthening bilateral ties.

This is Modi's second visit to Israel since he took office in 2014.
