President Donald Trump is reportedly considering the possibility of withdrawing from the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), according to a report based on inside sources.

Trump is said to have asked his aides about the implications of the US exiting the trade deal he signed during his first term. However, he has not made any final decisions.

A White House official said Trump is always looking for a better deal for Americans and called speculation ahead of an official announcement unfounded. Meanwhile, the US Trade Representative’s office said that renewing the 2019 terms without changes would not be in the national interest.

The administration reportedly wants to keep all options open while addressing issues identified through negotiations. Both officials declined to directly confirm whether withdrawal is being considered.

The USMCA faces a mandatory review by July 1, which should have been a routine process but has now turned into tense negotiations, with Trump demanding additional concessions and linking trade issues to issues of migration, drug trafficking and defense.
