Malaysia expressed its continued commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts by Indonesia in easing the conflict between Iran and Israel, with the main goal of reducing tensions and protecting public safety.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stressed that support for the Jakarta initiative has the potential to open up space for more meaningful negotiations, thus promoting a peaceful and lasting solution in the West Asian region.
The matter was discussed in a telephone conversation between Anwar and President Prabowo Subianto on March 23, which also touched on the urgent need to prioritize peace in an increasingly tense geopolitical situation.
At the same time, both leaders also reached an agreement to hold a meeting in the near future as a step to strengthen bilateral relations between Malaysia and Indonesia, including a proposed official visit to Jakarta to strengthen strategic cooperation between the two countries.
