The geopolitical conflict has entered its fourth day with increasing intensity of air and ground attacks. Iran launched missile attacks on US bases in Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman, while Israeli troops began entering southern Lebanon to fight Hezbollah militia.

Global energy markets reacted drastically with Brent oil prices soaring to $85 a barrel, while gas prices in Europe jumped 32%. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz and damage to energy infrastructure in Qatar and the UAE have raised concerns about a prolonged global fuel supply crisis.

President Donald Trump has stressed that the military operation has no fixed time limit and could last longer than the original projection of a month. While his administration emphasizes the goal of destroying Iran's nuclear and missile capabilities, Trump has also signaled support for regime change in Tehran.

The humanitarian situation is worsening with the death toll in Iran reaching 787, in addition to casualties on the part of US troops and Israelis. Attacks on major air hubs such as Dubai have paralysed air traffic in the Gulf region, hampering efforts to evacuate foreigners who have been urged to leave the war zone.

Despite diplomatic pressure from China and Arab states to end the conflict, the US has warned that more attacks are coming. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the campaign would be stepped up to ensure the safety of global shipping lanes from Iranian naval threats.
