The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim has approved the appointment of Datuk Seri Abdul Halim Aman as the new Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), effective May 13.
Abdul Halim previously served as a High Court Judge and now takes over from Tan Sri Azam Baki whose term of office ended on May 12.
Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said the appointment was in accordance with subsection 5(1) of the MACC Act 2009 (Act 694).
According to him, the government is confident that Abdul Halim's extensive experience and high integrity will be able to strengthen governance efforts, strengthen the people's confidence and accelerate the anti-corruption agenda.
