US Senate Allows Trump to Strike Iran!

The Republican-controlled US Senate has blocked a new effort by Democrats to limit President Donald Trump's war powers against Iran.

In a 52-47 vote, a majority of senators voted not to proceed with a 'war powers' resolution that would halt US military operations against Iran until it receives formal approval from Congress.

The decision shows continued Republican support for Trump's military action, even though the conflict with Iran has dragged on for more than six weeks after US and Israeli air strikes began.

Only one Republican senator, Rand Paul, supported the resolution.

On the Democratic side, only Senator John Fetterman voted against it.

Another Republican senator, Jim Justice, abstained from the vote.

The US Constitution actually gives Congress the power to declare war, but in practice, presidents often launch short-term military operations without full approval, citing national security concerns.

The White House and most Republicans argue that Trump's actions are legitimate as commander-in-chief to protect the United States.

At the same time, there is a clear political divide, with polls showing a majority of Americans opposed to attacking Iran, but strong support coming from Republican voters.

Democrats insist they want to return war powers to Congress and fear the conflict could become a larger, long-term war.

They have pledged to continue to push the same resolution until the war is stopped or formally approved by Congress.

A similar resolution in the House of Representatives is expected to be introduced soon.
