Imagine this…
You’ve been working at a company for 5 to 10 years.
You’re loyal. Experienced. Reliable.
Then one day, your boss calls you in and says:
“Your position doesn’t exist anymore… we’ve replaced it with AI.”
Sounds brutal, right? But this is no longer just a “future fear” — it’s already happening.
💥 Real Case: Worker Fired Because of AI (China)
A few months ago in China, a quality assurance employee was suddenly told:
- Their role could now be done by an AI system
- The company wanted to cut their salary by 40%
Of course, they refused.
So what happened next?
👉 They got fired.
But here’s where things get interesting…
The case went to court — and the employee WON.
⚖️ The Court’s Historic Decision:
The court ruled that:
- Companies still have social responsibility towards employees
- You cannot simply replace humans with AI and fire them
However… AI itself is not banned.
👉 Companies can still use AI to make money
👉 But they can’t abuse it to unfairly remove workers
This ruling became a major turning point in labor law discussions.
🇪🇺 Europe Takes It Even Further
In Europe, there was another shocking case:
An e-hailing driver suddenly lost access to their app.
No warning. No human explanation.
Just… AI decided their performance was “bad.”
The driver fought back — and WON.
🔒 Why?
Because under GDPR Article 22:
Humans have the right NOT to be subject to fully automated decisions.
That means:
❌ AI cannot fire you
✅ A human must make the final decision
Europe even bans something called:
👉 “Robo-firing”
Because let’s be real…
A human boss might understand if:
- Your mom is sick
- Your wife is giving birth
- You’re going through a tough time
But AI?
It only sees numbers. No emotions. No context.
🤯 The Plot Twist Big Companies Are Using
Here’s the loophole…
Big tech companies are still cutting jobs — but not directly because of AI.
Instead, they say:
👉 “We’re restructuring to invest in AI.”
So technically:
- They’re not replacing workers with AI directly
- But they’re still reducing workforce to fund AI
Smart… but controversial.
🇲🇾 What About Malaysia?
Right now, Malaysia hasn’t seen many cases like this yet.
But don’t get too comfortable.
Because tech trends follow a cycle:
👉 What happens in China & Europe…
👉 Will eventually reach us (maybe in 3–5 years)
And AI today?
It’s already insanely powerful:
- Can generate videos like movies 🎬
- Can handle admin, QA, and repetitive tasks
- Can outperform humans in certain roles
⚠️ So… Should You Be Worried?
Let’s be honest.
From a worker’s perspective:
❌ AI is scary
❌ It can replace your job
From a boss’s perspective:
✅ AI is cheaper
✅ AI is faster
✅ AI doesn’t complain
So the real question is…
👉 If you were the boss… would you choose AI?
🔁 History Is Repeating Itself
When computers were first introduced…
People were scared:
“This machine will take my job!”
But today?
We grow up learning computers in school.
We’re comfortable with them.
Now, history is repeating itself…
👉 This time, it’s AI.
We are becoming like the older generation once was —
but facing a new kind of technology.
💡 The Real Lesson
✔ Labor laws still protect workers (for now)
✔ AI won’t protect you
✔ The best move? Adapt early
Because AI isn’t here to ask for permission.
It’s already here.
💬 What Do YOU Think?
- Are you scared of AI replacing jobs?
- Do you agree companies should be allowed to fire workers because of AI?
- If you were the boss… what would YOU do?
