Nose cancer happens when abnormal cells grow uncontrollably inside the nasal area. Unlike normal cells that stop growing naturally, cancer cells continue multiplying without limits. Over time, these tumors become larger, stronger, and more dangerous.
One of the first symptoms many patients experience is persistent nosebleeds. Why does this happen? Because tumors need a huge blood supply to survive and grow. New blood vessels form around the cancer cells, making bleeding more common and harder to stop.
But the danger doesn’t stop there.
As the tumor grows, it can block important pathways connected to the ears. This may cause hearing problems or partial hearing loss. Some patients also experience constant nasal blockage, difficulty swallowing, reduced sense of smell, and severe headaches.
In more advanced cases, the cancer may spread toward the eyes or brain. This can lead to swollen eyes, blurred vision, dizziness, or neurological complications that become life-threatening.
The scary part? Many people ignore these signs until it’s too late.
Treatment for nose cancer depends on the type of cancer cells involved. Some cancers respond very well to radiotherapy, meaning surgery may not even be necessary. However, other types are resistant and require surgery to remove the tumor completely.
Doctors also monitor how the cancer reacts after treatment. Sometimes radiotherapy works successfully, but in certain cases the cancer can return months or years later.
Radiotherapy itself can cause difficult side effects because it also affects healthy surrounding tissues. Patients may experience dry nose, swallowing difficulties, coughing while drinking water, hoarse voice, or nerve damage.
Even after surgery, there is never a 100% guarantee the cancer will not return. Everything depends on how far the cancer has spread — whether it has reached the eyes, brain, or nearby organs.
That’s why early detection is extremely important.
