Middle East Conflict Escalates, Iran Expands Military Operations!

The armed conflict in the Middle East is escalating after Iran claimed to have launched airstrikes targeting US military positions in Syria and Bahrain. This development occurred as the US military through the Central Command (CENTCOM) completed its sixth consecutive night of airstrikes on dozens of military targets in Iranian territory.

This aggressive action has completely dismantled a temporary ceasefire agreement signed last month, which was supposed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz for commercial shipping. According to Iranian state media, the latest series of US airstrikes have killed eight individuals and destroyed civilian infrastructure including a train station and an airport.

Iran's retaliatory attacks have also affected the security of neighboring countries when a power plant and desalination plant in Kuwait suffered severe damage due to missile fire. The defense forces of Bahrain, Jordan, and Qatar also reported the activation of warning sirens after successfully intercepting several rocket attacks and missiles fired into their airspace.

Despite the escalating situation, US President Donald Trump insisted his administration was “winning” its military campaign in Iran and warned it was prepared to knock out more of the country’s power plants. However, foreign geopolitical analysts warned that the US risks falling into a prolonged cycle of war due to a flawed conflict management strategy.

Meanwhile, global energy markets reacted sharply with Brent crude oil prices jumping 1.7% to $85.72 a barrel and WTI rising to $80.63 a barrel. Both global oil benchmarks have surged more than 11% this week, marking the most aggressive weekly performance for commodity markets since late April.
