School Network, a technology community operating in Forest City, has reportedly ceased operations after the business license of its operator, NSO Malaysia Sdn Bhd, was revoked by the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP).
A site visit on Wednesday morning found a temporary closure notice posted at the main entrance. The signboard displaying the School Network name at the entrance and around the premises was also found to have been removed or covered.
The action follows the MBIP's decision to revoke the company's business license and order all operations to cease effective Wednesday. According to MBIP, investigations found that the company failed to comply with the licensing and use conditions of the approved premises.
In addition, the company's advertising license was also revoked after the activities carried out were found to be inconsistent with the approval to use the premises as offices.
School Network is a technology community that offers a co-living and co-working concept with membership fees starting at around US$1,500 (approximately RM6,135) per month.
The platform was founded by American entrepreneur Balaji Srinivasan, and targets the digital nomad community, remote workers and tech entrepreneurs from around the world.
The issue also gained attention after allegations emerged on July 14 that several Israeli individuals were participating in the program using passports issued by other countries.
The allegations sparked public debate, but to date there has been no official confirmation linking the MBIP's license revocation to the allegations.
MBIP instead stated that enforcement action was taken based on non-compliance with licensing and use of premises conditions.
