Singularity Connect Sdn Bhd and IJN Research Sdn Bhd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the development and commercialization of agentic artificial intelligence (AI) applications in the healthcare sector.
The collaboration combines Singularity Connect’s AI technology capabilities with IJN Research’s clinical, research and healthcare ecosystem expertise, specifically to explore outcome-focused AI applications in the cardiovascular and thoracic fields.
The MoU was signed in conjunction with the National Innovation and Commercialisation Expo 2026 (NICE 2026) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Combine AI and Clinical Expertise
Through this collaboration, both parties will explore the development of AI applications involving various areas of expertise.
These include medical professionals, AI application developers, data scientists, statisticians, bioinformatics experts and related experts.
The collaboration will not only focus on technology development, but also on potential real-world applications and commercialization of the applications developed.
Both parties will also explore opportunities to collaborate with the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI) and other relevant innovation partners, as appropriate.
AI to Support Healthcare
Singularity Connect Sdn Bhd Group Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Fauzi bin Ali, said the healthcare sector has great potential to leverage AI to create measurable impact.
According to him, AI development needs to be done with clinical expertise, an understanding of the real needs of the healthcare sector and strong research capabilities.
The collaboration with IJN Research will focus on the responsible and practical application of Agent AI to support healthcare professionals and research activities.
The move is also part of Singularity Connect’s efforts to expand the use of AI in industries that have the potential to create real value.
Clinical Data Becomes the Basis of AI
IJN Research Sdn Bhd Chief Innovation and Research Officer, Prof Dato’ Dr. Suhaini Bin Kadiman, also emphasized that AI in healthcare should assist and not replace human roles.
According to him, the combination of clinical expertise, human assessment and responsible and explainable AI is essential to deliver better outcomes for patients.
IJN Research has a structured clinical data ecosystem, integrated digital workflows and has achieved HIMSS EMRAM Level 7, the highest level of digital maturity.
This foundation is seen to support efforts to use Agent AI to transform clinical data into more useful information for doctors and patients.
Local AI Potentially Expanded to the Region
The collaboration also opens up space to develop healthcare AI solutions that are developed and clinically validated in Malaysia.
At the same time, the technology has the potential to be expanded to regional markets and beyond, depending on the development results and specific programs agreed upon by both parties.
For Singularity Connect, this collaboration is part of a broader strategy to drive practical adoption and commercialization of AI across various industries.
NICE 2026, organised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and led by MRANTI, brings together Malaysia’s innovation ecosystem under the theme “Mission to Market. Malaysia to the World.”
This MoU provides a framework for Singularity Connect and IJN Research to explore specific programmes and projects at the next stage, while strengthening Malaysia’s ability to develop local AI technologies that are based on industry needs and have the potential to be commercialised to the wider market.
