XRP Strikes Again, Target $1.83 Next?

XRP surged nearly 48% in a week after hitting a low of around US$0.9877 on August 17, before stabilizing around US$1.48.

At the time of writing, XRP was trading at US$1.4445, down 0.08% since the Asian session opened on Friday.

The rapid rise has revived bullish sentiment towards XRP after a long decline that wiped out almost 73% of its value from July 2025 to August 2026.

However, the question now is whether XRP still has room to rise or whether investors are too late to get in.

XRP Recovers After Falling Below US$1

XRP traded around US$1 for most of August and tested the US$0.98 to US$1 area several times.

The US$0.9877 level on August 17 was a cyclical low before buyers began to take over.

Market sentiment turned positive after US President Donald Trump urged Congress to pass the CLARITY Act on a regulatory framework for crypto assets.

Momentum was also supported by the US Treasury Department’s announcement to increase its long-term bond repurchase program from US$2 billion to US$4 billion starting September 9.

The development has the potential to increase market liquidity and encourage interest in risky assets such as cryptocurrencies.

RSI No Longer Overbought

XRP’s rapid surge caused the daily relative strength index, or RSI, to cross the 80 mark as the price approached US$1.66.

An RSI above 70 typically indicates an overbought condition, signaling a potential price correction.

That was certainly the case when XRP fell from US$1.66 to around US$1.44.

However, the RSI has now settled down to around 60, indicating that buying momentum is gaining control but is still in the bullish zone.

This means that the risk of a sharp correction may have diminished, but XRP still has to face some important resistance levels.

US$1.50 Becomes an Important Level

At this point, US$1.50 is the closest resistance that XRP needs to break.

If it manages to make a strong close above that level, the market's attention will shift to the US$1.65 to US$1.70 area.

The area is important because previous selling pressure caused XRP to reverse after approaching US$1.66.

If XRP manages to break through US$1.70 with strong momentum, the price has the potential to move towards US$1.83, which is a level that has not been tested since January 2026.

Still Worth Buying?

From a technical perspective, XRP is still showing positive momentum.

The price around US$1.48 is currently above the 10-day EMA at US$1.27 and the 100-day EMA at US$1.18.

The 50-day, 100-day and 200-day simple moving averages are also at US$1.10, US$1.15 and US$1.27.

This shows that the trend structure still supports buyers.

However, the 39.1% increase throughout August makes buying at the current price riskier than when XRP was near US$0.99.

Investors who bought at US$1.48 are essentially betting that the upward momentum will continue.

If XRP fails to break through US$1.50 and starts to receive selling pressure, the price has the potential to correct to around US$1.20.

So, Should You Wait for a Breakout?

Technically, a strong close above US$1.50 would be a more convincing signal than just seeing XRP touch that level.

If the breakout is confirmed and momentum remains positive, XRP has the potential to test US$1.65–US$1.70 before heading towards US$1.83.

Conversely, a failure to break through the resistance could cause traders to take profits after this week’s big rally.
