The selection of the Covid-19 vaccine will be decided by the government early next year, according to the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Khairy Jamaluddin.

He said the data from several clinical trials of the Covid-19 vaccine will be analyzed at the end of this year.

He said the ministry was currently discussing the legal implications and model of vaccine ownership with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Finance, and the Attorney General's Chambers.

We are also in talks with other international pharmaceutical companies to obtain supplies directly without having to go through the Covid-19 Vaccine Global Access (COVAX) allocation plan.

"I also request that the agreement with China be settled as soon as possible because its paperwork is almost complete," said Khairy.

Khairy added that negotiations with COVAX on Malaysia's participation in the facility to obtain the required Covid-19 vaccine are ongoing.

"We are still discussing some things with COVAX. We want to get it sooner, so the ownership model is huge. We pay for something that does not yet exist, ”he said.

Among the companies that have begun clinical trials of the Covid-19 vaccine in the final stages are Moderna, Pfizer and BioNtech, AstraZeneca, the University of Oxford, and Johnson & Johnson.
